This means you’ll need to do your work together in short parrot training sessions.
Whenever possible, plan your parrot training sessions around your bird’s schedule, rather than orienting them around yours.

Parrots don’t really understand negative reinforcement like punishment, and in fact yours might actually view punishment as a form of positive attention.
Try to encourage good behavior by giving your parrot plenty of praise and play time, not just treats. If you use treats as rewards too often, your parrot might only do what you ask if it knows it will receive some type of treat or other food.
The most important thing you can do to make your training successful is repetition. The best way to teach your parrot to perform basic and advanced commands and tricks is to repeat the steps over and over until your pet learns them.
Begin training a new parrot with very easy tricks, like sitting on your finger when you tell it to. Choose a word for each trick, and use that same word every time you work on teaching your parrot that particular trick.
Most importantly, you should never force your parrot to participate in a training session.
If it seems uninterested or tired, stop the session and try later.
Once your parrot has learned some commands and tricks, you can start holding your training sessions increasingly closer to its cage. A parrot will feel more comfortable performing what it knows inside its cage and amid the distractions of your home once it acquires some skills.
Parrots typically learn quickly, and sometimes they will learn just by listening, even when you’re not in a parrot training session.
It’s even possible for parrots to learn some type of inappropriate behavior this way, which of course could be somewhat embarrassing.
You’ll need time, patience and affection when it comes to parrot training. Your dedication will pay off, however, because with patience and love, you’ll gain a well-behaved pet parrot and a companion for many years to come.
