The breathtaking African Grey Parrot

The African Grey parrot is probably one of the easiest and most beautiful of the parrot family to keep. They originated in Central Africa, they are known for their exceptional talking ability and high intelligence. African Greys generally communicate well with their owners and are able to develop a large vocabulary. These parrots are medium sized and able to grow at 10 to 14 inches length.

African gray parrots can do two types. One is light gray with a red tail and is known as the Congo African Grey. The Timneh African Grey is a dark charcoal gray with a maroon tail. Normally the females are smaller than males. Male birds, and basically 12 to 14 inches wide. Both sexes actually look the same, but usually the female African Grey parrot a more slender neck and narrow head. These parrots require an owner, a long-term commitment to create them. African Greys can live as long as 60 years. Because they are highly intelligent, African grays really need an owner with inexperience and is able to understand what they need.
